Overview:
We are seeking Veterinary Technicians to join our team. Our culture prioritizes and values veterinary technicians and their essential role in the clinical team. Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital (BBVSH) has board-certified specialists in surgery, oncology,
Neurology, critical care and internal medicine. Each department works collaboratively with other services within BBVSH, as well as accepting referrals from other specialty and general practices.
Duties:
- Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian
- Produce diagnostic radiographs, collect samples and perform other laboratory tests
- Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian
- Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery
- Anesthetic monitoring and administration
- Performing diagnostic tests and radiographs
- Placing IV catheters and blood collection
- Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
- Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
- Provide wound and bandage care
- Counsel clients on animal health care
- Hospital and equipment maintenance
- Medical record keeping
Requirements:
- College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
- Experience is an asset
- An attention to detail as well as ability to multi-task
- Excellent written and communication skills, ability to comfortably communicate with staff & clients
- Team player
- Organized, initiative, flexible, accurate
- Willingness to relocate if necessary: relocation costs covered by employer
